Most common urban bird of prey in India – the Pariah Kite

Milvus migrans govinda or the commonly-called Cheel is the Pariah Kite – indeed it is not an Eagle! But it is the most common urban bird of prey and one that is comfortable in the rough and tumble of an Indian city. This population lives in huge numbers around the garbage dumps of Delhi city, living on scraps, carrion and trash, with virtually no component of preying upon live animals or birds.
